Let’s provide the best care possible.
Heron’s Flight does not take over or usurp any other healthcare positions. I am here to support your work, help things run more smoothly, and ensure your clients receive the most comprehensive care possible.
Please reach out if you’re interested in connecting, have any questions, or just want to learn more about Heron’s Flight.

Who, when, and how, do we refer people to you?
Who: If one or more of these signs are present, your client would greatly benefit from an end-of-life doula:
out of town, or lack of, family/support system
the presence of depression and/or anxiety
client or caregiver needing extra emotional support
caregiver burnout
qualifying for hospice, but not emotionally ready to enroll
trouble accepting a terminal diagnosis
difficult family dynamics
searching for more meaning and peace
an openness to exploring their relationship with death and dying
When: Heron’s Flight works with anyone from a year’s prognosis to the active dying phase. While starting earlier is always beneficial, there is immense value in bringing in a doula at any stage. One of the most common things I hear is “I wish I knew about you sooner”.
It is not a requirement for clients to be on hospice when we begin together, as I am happy to help with that transition process.
How: It often helps to explain an eol doula as a guide or navigator throughout advanced aging and/or illness. Heron’s Flight is here to focus on quality of life, supplement the care your client is already receiving, and serve as their steady support system.

Why should we refer people to you?
Not only will collaborating with a doula set you apart from other organizations, it will highlight your commitment to providing innovative care solutions for the well-being and dignity of your clients and their families.
Here are several reasons why care teams should consider working with end-of-life Doulas (or eol doulas)
Comprehensive Support: Eol doula’s offer holistic support that complements other medical and caregiving services, creating a well-rounded and comprehensive experience for your clients.
Care Support: Rather than leading care or making any decisions, eol doula’s support what a client’s care team is deciding, takes notes at meetings, and help families retain information.
Emotional Guidance: Doula’s provide compassionate listening and emotional support to individuals and their loved ones.
Facilitation of Conversations: End-of-life doulas help individuals and their families communicate effectively with each other and with healthcare providers.
Advocacy and Empowerment: Doulas ensure that individuals maintain autonomy and dignity throughout the end-of-life process.
Continuity of Care: Eol doulas provide consistent and continuous support to individuals and their families, regardless of changes in medical or caregiving personnel. This helps greatly with any transitions that are made.
Personalized Care: Doulas create customized care plans that prioritize comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Support for Caregivers: End-of-life doulas also provide support and respite for family caregivers, helping to prevent burnout and overwhelm.
